e-Harmonise
The eHarmonise provides wearable haptic skin stretch feedback to help users sing in tune. Pitch matching is inherently complex, and in many singing situations, auditory senses quickly become overloaded. We sought to investigate whether sensory substitution via cutaneous haptic feedback could increase pitch accuracy. I designed this in a team of 3 for Prof. Allison Okamura's fantastic class, ME327: Design of Haptic Systems.

We did a user test with 17 users to see how the device improved their pitch when matching and harmonising with target notes.
The pictured device is a 3D printed prototype, with a stitched felt and velcro strap and an overmolded tactor.
